FLEMING ISLAND - According to a Facebook announcement posted in early May, Fleming Island Gymnastics has closed its doors for good.
The popular gymnasium at 7155 U.S. Highway 17, known for its recreational classes and competition teams, said it was not an easy decision, but the rising costs and inability to find qualified staff were the ultimate culprits.
According to county building permits and property records, the site was sold to TLC Realty Holdings out of St. Augustine for $1.5 million.
As of June 8, the property has been the subject of a possible Clay County code enforcement violation for non-permitted land clearing.
