ORANGE PARK - A flurry of coaching changes has familiar faces returning to the St. Johns Country Day School gymnasium with long-time athletic director Traci Livingston the biggest step-down of the Spartan athletic staff.

"I had a wonderful 28 years at St. Johns Country Day School where I was able to serve as the athletic director for 13 of those years, becoming the first female AD in Clay County," said Livingston, who was also the school's volleyball coach the past 13 years getting her 500th win this season. "I have been blessed to have been the AD to some of the top athletes in the State and Nation."

Livingston will be replaced by Clay County School District Athletic Director John Sgromolo, a Clay High graduate and baseball standout with Flagler College with a minor stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Two of Livingston's athletes on her illustrious list are former volleyballers Jenna Williams and Madison Dill-McDermott, two standout players that will return as head coach and assistant coach.

Williams, a Class of 2010 grad and the first scholarship volleyball signee from St. Johns, played at the University of Mobile and returns as head coach after 10 years being mentored by Livingston at St. Johns while Dill-McDermott returns as an assistant coach with a bank of an elite level playing that included at St. Johns; 1650 kills, FACA player of the year, at the University of Miami where she was a four-year starter.

At St. Johns, Dill-McDermott's honors included a 2015-16 Under Armour Girls High School All-America Third-Team selection while with four club teams, she played in the Junior Nationals.

Also on the hardwood, Final Four girls basketball coach Yolanda Bronston stepped down to now coach at Eagles' View Academy in Jacksonville, but the Lady Spartans nabbed an outstanding replacement in former Ridgeview High boys, then girls basketball coach Tyler Miller.

Miller turned the Ridgeview High girls program into a Class 5A juggernaut the past two seasons with a first-time district title for the program and a region final finish (47-43 loss to eventual state champion Mainland High of Daytona Beach) in 2023. In 2022, Miller earned a second-seed region finish but fell to Final Four finisher Pine Forest in the opening rounds.

Miller himself was a championship-level college player at LaGrange College where he directed a 2014 USA South Tournament championship as a guard.

On the golf greens, St. Johns will have former University of North Florida standout Mindy Herrick aboard as girls' golf coach.

Herrick, from Ohio, but a graduate of Buchholz High in Gainesville with a state tournament runner-up finish her senior season, holds many honors from UNF including ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2021), ASUN All-Academic (2022, 2021), All-ASUN: 1st team (2022, 2021, 2020), 2nd team (2019), ASUN All-Freshman (2018) and an ASUN All-Tournament selection (2022, 2021, 2018),

During her fifth year, Herrick helped lead her team to their first ASUN

championship since 2017, securing their spot at regionals and adding a championship ring to her collection.
