GREEN COVE SPRINGS – By the time the smoke cleared the air – literally – The Vineyard Transitional Center’s annual pork butt sale led to the sale of nearly 450 whole smoked butts last Saturday. The money will go toward the construction of a new center that will provide housing, counseling and life-skill training for newly released prisoners from the Clay County Jail. One of the organization’s ardent supporters, former Green Cove Springs Mayor Van Royal, was such a hungry fan of the project, he bought 10 of the butts.
