Talladega, Ala. - An historic day for Edward Waters College freshman pitcher Milani Sablan helped carry the Lady Tigers to a split of their road doubleheader against GCAC foe Talladega on Saturday afternoon. Sablan pitched a perfect game in the Lady Tigers 8-0 run rule victory in five innings over the Lady Tornadoes in Game 1. EWC had their seven game winning streak snapped in Game 2 as Talladega escaped with a 3-2 win to split the day’s action. Game 1: Edward Waters 8, Talladega 0 (5 Inn.): Milani Sablan, a Ridgeview High pitching standout in the Panthers Final Four finish in 2019, was untouchable in the day’s opener, recording her first collegiate perfect game. Sablan went all 5.0 innings of the contest, recorded a season high seven strikeouts, no walks, and no hits allowed to earn a permanent place in the EWC record books, pitching the first perfect game in the modern era of EWC women’s softball history.
