GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Flagler College men's indoor track and field team competed at the RADD Sports Invitational at the Alachua County Sports Complex at Celebration Pointe on Friday and Saturday.
The Saints had entries in the 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1000m, mile and 3000m. As well as field entries in long jump and shot put.
From Ridgeview High School, senior track and cross country runner Joel Nesi hammered out a four-minute, 20.29 mile split to finish sixth for the Saints. The winner's time was 3:57.98 from Daniel Schaffer, a runner with ZAP Endurance, a semi-pro running club based in North Carolina that trains Olympic hopefuls.
Just one week later, Nesi ran a 4:16.29 to finish fourth at the Florida Collegiate Invitational also at the Alachua County facility.
Four freshmen competed in the 60m preliminaries with Sam Adebonojo finishing the highest at 27th with a time of 7.18. The next finishers were Ryan Sen (7.21), Sam Humer (7.30) and Caden Vann (7.34) in 31st, 35th and 37th, respectively.
