ORANGE PARK – The Daughters of the American Revolution’s Sophia Fleming Chapter awarded Orange Park High Senior Tyler Davies its Good Citizen Award for exemplifying the core values of a good citizen: dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. DAR Good Citizens Chair Maria Littlejohn describes him as an amazing young man.

Tyler, the son of Brian and Brooke Davies, currently maintains a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.47. He has made nearly straight As in high school while taking honors, AP and Dual enrollment courses.

In addition to excelling in academics, a few of his activities and leadership positions include Senior Class Officer/Class President; Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee, Chairman- two years; Student Leadership Council, Co-Founder/President- four years; National Honor Society- three years; National Technical Honor Society; Athletic Leadership Council- two years; OPHS Varsity Golf- three years; SWAT, Students Working Against Tobacco; FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes- two years and BETA Club.

He has received the following awards: Unsung Raider of the Year, Orange Park Rotary Club, 2023; Sheriff Michelle Cook’s Student in the Spotlight Award, 2023; Star Volunteer Award, Children’s Home Society of Florida, 2022; Eagle Scout of America, 2021; and The Marine Corps League Good Citizenship Award, 2021.

School Counselor Dana Brock wrote, “Tyler is the type of young man an educator never forgets. He recognizes that if the world is to improve, he must do his part to make things move. He articulates this with every word he speaks, the sweat he pours, the kindness and empathy he displays, and the miles he puts on his car. I am a better educator and individual because I have Tyler. In the words of Dr. Seuss, ‘Kid, you will move mountains!’”

With more than 850 community service hours documented throughout all four years of high school, Tyler’s efforts extended well beyond the walls of his school. His future plans are to attend the University of Florida and pursue a major in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Sophia Fleming Chapter is proud to recognize and honor this impressive young man, who will receive the DAR Good Citizen pin, a certificate, and a gift card at his senior awards night.
