Orange Park Hospital hosts Mammos and Mimosas event

ORANGE PARK – HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital hosted a unique event geared toward women to encourage annual mammograms. The Mammos and Mimosas event was held at Orange Park Hospital’s Outpatient Imaging Center and included mammograms, chair massages, mimosas, giveaways and snacks.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Early detection is key for a positive outcome. “By hosting this fun and relaxing event, we are hoping to alleviate some of the anxiety that can come along with getting a mammogram,” said Stacy Jordan, Director of Imaging Services at Orange Park Hospital. “It’s our goal to eliminate barriers that discourage women from getting this important screening.”

The hospital’s new imaging center is located in its new 60,000-square-foot medical office building that opened earlier this year. The facility provides imaging services to both men and women, with a special focus on women’s imaging, including 3D mammogram technology, breast ultrasounds, and breast biopsies. The medical office building also includes Orange Park Women’s Health, an obstetrics and gynecology physician practice for all other women’s health needs.

“We are so excited to host this event. It gives us the chance to champion women’s health and encourage the women in our community to stay consistent with the recommended screenings and annual visits with their physician,” said Dr. Nikki Rowan, OBGYN at HCA Florida Orange Park Women’s Health.

In addition to the event, the hospital’s staff dressed in pink last month in observance of the fight against breast cancer. The hospital also participated in the Pink Ribbon Symposium and Making Strides events to help spread education on breast health to the community.
