Orange Park After Dark

First music show of season featured The Chris Thomas Project at Town Hall

ORANGE PARK – The summer season kicked off last Saturday on a warm, balmy evening where patrons lounged in lawn chairs and enjoyed the performance put on by the Chris Thomas Project.

It was the third annual Orange Park After Dark, a night of live music and food trucks held at the Orange Park Town Hall.

The event is BYOB (bring your own beer/bottle/booze), meaning you were allowed to bring your drinks. The food trucks weren't allowed sell alcohol, but they did sell personal pan pizzas, barbeque, Spanish churros (which are dipped in chocolate) and an assortment of lemonade flavors.

The event was geared for an adult audience, but this didn't mean children weren't prohibited. During the performance, some children played at nearby Town Hall Park.

There were attendance fees, no prohibition on personal beverages, ample parking surrounding the town hall, and a spunky live performance, making for a great night.

Celia Das and Chris Thomas were the lead singers who rocked out at the pavilion. The local Jacksonville band produced a catchy medley of popular songs, each performed with the band's signature laid-back style.

The next Orange Park After Dark event will be on June 8 from 7-10 p.m. at the Orange Park Town Hall.

The next show will feature The Band Be Easy, a high-energy, multi-genre sensational powerhouse of seasoned players who know how to get any party started, according to the band's website

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and coolers.
