PALATKA – On Nov 18, at the Ravines State Park, the garden clubs of NE Florida came together for a day of education, social gathering and Christmas shopping.
The theme of the day’s talks was ecological principles in gardening and the beautiful natural setting of the park provided an excellent backdrop. Each club came with items for sale and created a mini-Christmas bazaar to everyone’s delight. It was a day full of information, meeting up with friends, and getting great bargains on garden-related Christmas crafts. Everyone left feeling satisfied from this dip into the Christmas season. During this time of year, we reflect on the meaning of being together. The simple, day-to-day, activities help us to realize how important we are to each other and how the ordinary things in life can have a great deal of meaning. Members of the Garden Club of Fleming Island were very grateful for all our “community friends” who support its work and come to our events.
There will be no public meeting for the Garden Club of Fleming Island. The group will be having its Christmas party for members. But be sure to mark your calendars for a spectacular presentation on easy and down-to-earth rose propagation on Jan. 9 at the Fleming Island Library.
