GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The biggest change for Katie Vineyard since being selected as the Chief Executive Officer of Challenge Enterprises of North Florida are the name plates on her desk and door.
She’s worked for the nonprofit that understands the importance of each individual’s unique intellectual, physical, social and emotional needs to provide the opportunity and training to live a productive, acting and rewarding life for the past 33 years, Vineyard was a seamless transition into the new role.
When Nancy Keating retired on Dec. 31 after 50 years, Vineyard was the logical choice as her replacement because she’s served in every capacity at the organization. She also understood the organization’s values and mission.
“We’re two months in,” Vineyard said. “I’ve been the COO since 2010, basically doing the day-to-day operations. I kept getting all these other things to do. Now I’m taking on this role, but I have a good clue about what to do.”
Challenge hired former Seamark Ranch CEP Greg Voss as Vineyard’s replacement as Chief Operations Officer.
According to Challenge Enterprises, her years of service have equipped her with a unique perspective, and her commitment to the organization’s mission is unwavering. The group, which also serves Southeast Georgia, anticipates continued growth, innovation, and a steadfast dedication to the community.
“It’s not different because I’ve worked with this team for years,” Vineyard said. “We’re getting settled.”
Katie grew up in Clay County and attended prekindergarten in Green Cove Springs – the same city where Challenge’s main offices are located. She is the treasurer for the Green Cove Springs Food Pantry and a member of the Green Cove Springs Rotary Club.
In 2018, Vineyard accepted the top prize of $10,000 on behalf of Challenge Enterprises after winning the Paul E. Reinhold Community Service Award as the county’s top top nonprofit.
Vineyard also organized a community drive to have Challenge Enterprises recognized by GreatNonprofits to elevate the group’s visibility.
“It still feels the same,” Vineyard said. “We’re still getting things done.”
