Jacksonville woman charged with trafficking fentanyl

MIDDLEBURG – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office turned over a Jacksonville woman on Aug. 16 to face charges of trafficking fentanyl and possessing methamphetamine, crack and powder cocaine and drug paraphernalia in Clay County.

Loni Nicole Dean, 31, was booked after being arrested following a traffic stop on Blanding Boulevard and Old Jennings Road by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 8 for an illegally tinted front windshield.

CCSO said Dean was under surveillance by CCSO, the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for making arrangements to sell drugs to an undercover agent.

The driver, Jahmal Mason, and Dean both had outstanding warrants in Duval County, so they were arrested and taken to Jacksonville. A search of the car uncovered a digital scale, two syringes, a glass pipe, methamphetamine, more than four grams of fentanyl and crack and powder cocaine in a black makeup bag.

Her bond was set at $155.011. Her next court appearance is Sept. 17.
