KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - A pick-six interception, a blocked punt to a safety, two passing bombs and an 80-yard scoring run highlighted an explosive 46-8 win for the Keystone Heights High football team over Interlachen on Friday. The 46-point total was the Indians' second consecutive 40-plus-point game. Interlachen came in 0-5, but was 10-0 last year and the Sunshine State Athletic Conference 1A Atlantic champion under former Middleburg High coach Erick Gibson.

"We're getting big plays on both sides of the ball and the team responds to them with even bigger plays," said Keystone Heights coach Steve Reynolds, who sets up an interesting road game against rival Bradford County (4-0) this Friday. "Against a team like Bradford, they are very explosive as well and if we get a couple of plays like tonight, that game could be interesting."

Keystone Heights opened with a successful onsides kick that led to a score by running back Cartez Daniels from nine yards out. Daniels also had the 80-yard scamper in the second quarter that pushed the score to 31-8.

Along with the way, Keystone Height's massive defensive tackle Josh Dowling crushed an Interlachen punt on the goal line then scampered to scoop the ball, but fell out of bounds on the recovery for a two-point safety.

Keystone Heights got dinged by an 80-yard kickoff return for a score by Interlachen to answer the score but the Indians' defense held through the rest of the night with a 44-yard pick-six interception by Kyle Perkins and a second interception and run from Colton Hollingsworth. Hollingsworth also recovered the opening onside kickoff by Keystone Heights.

"We wanted to start fast and put them on their heels," said Reynolds. "

Hollingsworth, brother to All-State running back Dalton Hollingsworth, ripped a 50-yard scrimmage run that finished at the one-yard line late in the game. Hollingsworth scored off the one-yard plunge.

Keystone Heights' offense, led by sophomore quarterback Baylor Ford, got two touchdown tosses nearly 40 yards with Andru Seimer grabbing one for 37 yards and Wyatt Van Zant grabbing the second for 52 yards. Van Zant also recovered a fumble. Jackson Parmeter had an interception in the fourth quarter.

Keystone Heights also got a 25-yard field goal from kicker Tyler Sapp.

"With Cartez having a good night on the ground, their defense had to cover him and that gave my receivers some space downfield," said quarterback Baylor Ford. "I just keep calm and let them get open. There were some great catches out there."

For Ford, the tutelage under former Orange Park High gunslinger Ken Mudge, has been progressive.

"He's a quick learner and loves to play quarterback," said Mudge. "He's going to be a good one in the next couple of years."
