Habitat for Humanity, Publix partnering to build affordable houses

MIDDLEBURG – Clay County Habitat for Humanity is partnering with Publix Super Markets Charities to help build Habitat Cove, a seven-home development located at West and Walnut streets in Green Cove Springs.

Their generous support of a partial home sponsorship will help launch the building of the newest Habitat community.

“We are very excited about this latest venture. Having a multi-home community is a great way to build and encourage stability and community unity. Since partner family members work together in their homes, deep bonds are made. These new homeowners will be able to raise their families together and encourage unity in their community,” Carolyn Edwards, Executive Director of Clay County Habitat for Humanity, said.

“We’re proud to continue our support of the Clay County Habitat for Humanity,” Publix Charities Executive Director Kelly Williams-Puccio said.

“Having a place to call home offers individuals and families hope and stability while also creating stronger communities and neighborhoods. We remain committed to continuing the legacy of our founder, George Jenkins, by doing good, together,” Williams-Puccio said.

Clay County Habitat for Humanity was established in 1977, building its first home in Penney Farms.

The nonprofit's goal has been to build or renovate safe, decent, and affordable housing in partnership with the community for low—to moderate-income families. Since 1977, the nonprofit has constructed 183 homes serving more than 756 adults and children in Green Cove Springs, Middleburg, Orange Park, Penney Farms and Keystone Heights.
