GREEN COVE SPRINGS — Paul Wane thought there was no greater joy than seeing a smile on a child’s face when he hands them an instrument as part of his Rising Stars: Guitars for Kids program. That was until he received a Father’s Day card from one of his Rising Stars. “It made me cry,” he said during last Saturday’s Jupin’ and Jivin’ Juneboree at the Boogerville Hideout. The third annual event raised awareness and money to help him repurpose instruments to “inspire creativity and build unity across generations.” Wane envisions “communities united by the magic of music, where individuals are provided platforms that showcase their talents and bring their dreams to reality.” More than 300 instruments have been given to children in Northeast Florida. The June 15 event included music, games, prizes, face-painting, a reptile encounter, a bounce house, water slides, fireworks and more instrument giveaways, including a guitar for Caylin. Also, another band of Rising Star musicians, Groovin’ Knights, made their debut. For more information on how to help the Guitars for Kids program, email PaulWaneMusic@gmail.com.
