GREEN COVE SPRINGS – As if you needed another reason to look forward to the weekend, Food Truck Friday finally returned.
On March 1, Food Truck Friday favorites returned to Spring Park – Manny's Cuban Food Truck, Saffron Mediterranean Kitchen, Pizza Pit Stop and many more. The band Vox returned to perform classic rock hits on stage. New flavors were also rolling in, such as Hapa Li Hawaiian barbeque.
With so many great options, how can you decide what's for dinner?
"You honestly can't pick a bad truck," said Councilman Ed Gaw.
Gaw was instrumental in kickstarting the tradition on a Friday seven years ago. Since then, food trucks have rolled into Green Cove Springs across North Florida.
The sights and smells, including the Pizza Pit Stop enthralled those making laps around the busy park. The Daytona was a BBQ chicken pizza with sliced red onions and mozzarella cheese, putting hungry customers in the driver's seat of the Daytona 500.
Families brought foldable chairs, coolers, frisbees, children and pets for good eats and live music. Families left with fond memories and full tummies.
If you missed it, no worries. Food Truck Fridays are on the first Friday of each month from 5-9 p.m. from March to November. The next event will be on April 5, featuring music by Boogie Freaks.
