FLEMING ISLAND – The latest findings from personal injury lawyer Stone Injury Lawyers analyzed National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data to pinpoint where U-turns are most dangerous.
U-turn maneuvers often involve crossing multiple traffic lanes, potentially reducing visibility and causing significant traffic disruption, especially for drivers unfamiliar with their surroundings.
The complexity of U-turns can challenge even experienced drivers, who might struggle with accurately judging the speed and distance of oncoming traffic.
The findings show that Florida has the highest fatality rate, with 198 of the state’s 24,140 drivers in fatal crashes involving a U-turn – equivalent to 2.36%. This is a vast 145% above the national average fatality rate (0.96%).
