FLEMING ISLAND - With a tie in preseason action against Tallahassee Chiles, the daunting task of replacing all-everything quarterback Mykala Maddox has slowed the massive point production that Fleming Island flag football fans are used to, but junior quarterback Devyn Dudones, a converted defensive back, has stayed the course with a 7-0 win over a tough Stanton team on Monday keeping Fleming Island unbeaten at 3-0.
Dudones connected with wide-out Daisy Fletcher, normally the Eagles front rusher, for a score with just seven minutes to go against Stanton. Wide-out London Jenkins took the reigns for the PAT and hit Emily Poucher for the PAT.
In their season-opening week, Fleming Island knocked off Middleburg 13-0 and New Smyrna Beach 7-2.
Jenkins scored off a 32-yard interception return against Middleburg with Dudones hitting Megan Cobb on a four-yard pass for a 13-0 lead.
Against New Smyrna, Jenkins scored on a two-yard run play and caught the PAT pass from Dudones.
New Smyrna scored their two off an interception by safety Emily Poucher in the end zone that she caught in the end zone.
