Faith Walk: Promises Made, Promises Kept

Posted

Promises are easy to make. We make promises to our children, spouses, parents, coworkers, and neighbors on a regular basis. Take a moment to think back on your day. It’s likely that you made many promises today!

It may have been a promise to your wife that you’d have a date night this evening; perhaps a promise to your child that you’d help them with their homework; or even a promise to a coworker to pick up an extra shift on their behalf. No matter what the promises are, they are often an everyday occurrence in our lives!

The important aspect of promises is keeping them. Sometimes, we get so busy that we find it’s a lot easier to make promises than it is to keep them. But promises should be honored. It’s much better to say no in the first place than it is to keep a promise unfulfilled. God NEVER leaves a promise unfulfilled.

2 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.”

Pastor and Author David Jeremiah said, “The promises of God are His guarantees amid life’s uncertainties. They’re the basis of all our life of faith.”

When we walk in faith, anything is possible. Never believe that a promise of God is too big to be fulfilled in your life. God says, through Me, all things are possible!

What has God promised you? If you are still waiting on the fulfillment of that promise, don’t give up hope! God WILL come through for you!

We must remember that God knows the past, present, and future of our lives. Only He has the boundless wisdom and foresight to make things happen at the right and perfect time. That’s why we must trust Him in His timing.

The things He has promised you WILL come to pass, but they will do so at the time appointed by Him. Seek out and grab ahold of your promise today and trust in God to keep that promise.
