God’s laws are immutable. They are not like the laws of our land. No governing body can change them. They cannot be “updated” or “improved.” When God has declared them they are forever unchangeable.
One such law is the declaration of sowing and reaping. God’s word says, “Whatever one sows, he will also reap.” This is both spiritual and natural. For example, if you sow the seed for wheat, you will reap wheat. Tomatoes produce tomatoes.
The further spiritual application of this truth is in Galatians 6:8: “For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”
The flesh means our sinful capacity, our worldliness, our disgraceful impulses. The result of sowing to this flesh will be a harvest of ruin and destruction. But the one who sows to the Spirit, will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
We make a choice concerning the seed we sow with our daily lives. When we decide the seed we will sow, we are at the same time deciding the harvest we will reap!
This is certainly metaphoric language but it presets truth to us in a clear, down to earth way that causes us to see the truth God wants to dwell in our heart with understanding.

“If we sow to please our own wrong desires, we will be planting seeds of evil and we will surely reap a harvest of spiritual decay and death; but if we plant the good things of the Spirit, we will reap the everlasting life that the Holy Spirit gives us.” (Galatians 6:8 Living Bible).
