GREEN COVE SPRINGS – According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, what started as a domestic dispute led to a victim’s car being struck twice by an Orange Park man, and then quickly spiraled into a fight with CCSO deputies.

David Jonathan Burch, 54, was charged on Oct. 25 with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement with violence and battery on law enforcement deputies.

Deputies were called after a woman said Burch sent her threatening text messages and ran into her rear bumper and driver’s side door, according to the arrest report.

Deputies said they needed to use a Taser to gain control after Burch tried to grab his knife and the grip on the deputy’s firearm, and they wrestled on the ground.

Since Burch complained of chest pains, he was taken to HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital, where he was diagnosed with three fractured ribs.

Burch’s bond was set at $55,009.
