OAKLEAF – A Palatka man was arrested for trying to kick in the front door and slashing tires at an apartment complex, but not before leading Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies to use a precision immobilization technique maneuver to end a high-speed chase that included speeds reaching 110 mph.
Na’Jere Teon Ryheem Miles, 24, is being held at the Clay County Jail without bond after being charged on May 26 with home invasion, burglary, grand theft auto, vandalism, high-speed fleeing and eluding without regard for the safety of others after a victim said someone wearing a mask tried to kick in a door. Miles is then accused of stabbing the tires of a car in the parking lot and then smashing the driver’s side window out. According to the arrest report, he entered the car, stole several items and drove away on Madison Avenue.
A CCSO deputy spotted him, triggering the chase on Old Jennings Road and Challenger Boulevard. It ended at Branan Oaks Drive when a deputy pitted Miles.
Miles’ next court appearance is scheduled for July 1.
