GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The Curt Towne Band will celebrate the release of their new album the only way they know how – with a night of music and food.

On Nov. 3, the band will be joined by a host of other musicians at the season’s final Food Truck Friday at Spring Park – not just to mark the official release of “At It Again,” but to honor Lynyrd Skynyrd’s music that was shaped 50 years ago in a tiny shack in the woods along Peters Creek and north of Green Cove Springs.

“[Skynyrd] started the Hell House, as you very well know, in Green Cove Springs,” Towne said. “So, the idea was to celebrate 50 years of Lynyrd Skynyrd in Green Cove Springs. We’re going to do a full set of Skynyrd songs. It’s really going to be a special night.”

Towne will have several special guests joining the festivity, including lead singer and harmonica player Jimmy Hall from Wet Willie, drummer Derek Hess from the Rossington Collins Band, Middleburg’s Colby Coldiron, Phil Swindell, guitarist Jimmy Sexton from the Artimus Pyle Band and 2005 American Idol runner-up (to Carrie Underwood) Bo Bice.

All, Towne said, are connected to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

“They’re dear friends of mine,” Towne said. “Who knows who else might show up to be part of the guitar army?”

Along with more than 20 food trucks, there also will be silent and live auctions to help the St. Michael’s Soldiers’ Stuffing Stockings for Soldiers Project.

The City of Green Cove Springs will run a free shuttle to the park from the Clay County Administration Building at 477 Houston St. to handle the overflow crowd.

For The Curt Towne Band, the night will launch their long-awaited music project. “At It Again” has been in the works for three years. The COVID-19 pandemic initially created delays. Differing schedules and the desire to perfect the final product pushed it back even more.

The night of music and food trucks, which starts at 5 p.m., will coincide with the album’s worldwide debut. Pre-orders have already come from as far away as Brazil, Towne said.

Copies are available on Friday and on all streaming platforms.
