KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – Clay Chamber Lake Region Prosperity Partners heard from Clay County Commissioner Betsy Condon last week.

Hosted at the Keystone Beach Pavilion, local chamber members welcomed the commissioner. In addition, members were able to enjoy a meal network with each other before Condon shared new and exciting things happening in the southern end of Clay County.
She told the group that Phase 1 of the Black Creek Project was almost completed, and Phase 2 is underway. The project is expected to be finished in a year. The plan calls for water to be pumped from the South Fork of Black Creek to Alligator Creek, which spills into Lake Brooklyn.

She also talked about the new gun range coming to Middleburg, which is planned to be opened this fall for public use. In addition to discussing county projects, Condon discussed the waste management fee increasing for the first time in years due to fuel, labor costs and contract rates. She also talked about the county’s plans to develop a Strategic Plan to deal with future growth in the county.
The response was receptive as guests asked questions throughout the presentation.
“It’s always great to be home and be able to speak to the business community in my hometown,” she said. “I welcome the public’s input, and I like to hear and converse with them about what’s going on in the county.”
As the meeting ended, guests felt informed and enjoyed hearing the new things happening in Clay County.
“I thought County Commissioner Condon did a great job. It’s always great to hear her talk about District 4, the county, the improvements, and issues that are happening. I think she represents us so well, and I’m proud that she’s our county commissioner,” attendee Kerry Collins said.
“We’re very excited to have the Clay County Board of Commissioners chair here tonight,” said Chamber President Jon Cantrell. “Keystone is a strong and growing part of Clay County, so we want all of Clay County to know what’s going on down here in Keystone.”
