GREEN COVE SPRINGS  The Board of County Commissioners commended the Clay High Competitive Cheerleading Team, led by coaches Lori Davis and Daniel Richardson, for its championship win at the 2024 FHSAA Class 1A Competitive Cheerleading State Finals in Lakeland and for finishing third in the nation.

"Through their extraordinary efforts, this dynamic team proved to be the best executing and highest scoring team in 1A Medium Coed in Florida and successfully brought the Class 1A FHSAA State Championship trophy back to Clay County," said Commissioner Kristen Burke during the proclamation.

Some of the Clay High competitive cheerleading program accomplishments include six regional titles and four state titles, and it is currently ranked third in the nation in the Medium Coed Gameday division and fifth in the country for Small Coed Traditional division, said Burke.

"The entire Competitive Cheerleading Team contributed to this success, and these remarkable young men and women should be commended for their hard work, dedication and perseverance," she said.
