CLAY COUNTY — A $60,000 grant from the HCA Healthcare Foundation will help the Clay Education Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening public education, enhancing healthcare career opportunities for high school students across Clay County. This program, part of a statewide initiative called “Career Pathways to a Healthier Florida,” helps prepare students for in-demand healthcare roles through enhanced healthcare academy offerings.
“The support from the HCA Healthcare Foundation is crucial as we continue to empower our students and enrich our community,” said Carolyn Krall, President and CEO of the Clay Education Foundation. “This grant will help cover essential costs, which can often be barriers for students looking to start their career journeys. We are grateful for this support and look forward to ensuring their success.”
The grant targets unmet student needs within the Clay County School District Career and Technical Education program’s healthcare academy. The funding will cover certification costs, uniforms and background check expenses. Additionally, the grant will cover transportation costs, enabling students to explore opportunities at St. Johns River State College, local hospitals and life care centers.
“For more than 50 years, HCA Healthcare has been caring for the communities where our colleagues live and work. Whether it’s through volunteering our time, making charitable donations or partnering with other organizations, we are committed to improving more lives in more ways,” Joanne Pulles, Vice President of Community Engagement at HCA Healthcare and President of the HCA Healthcare Foundation.
