GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Just steps away – or a short drive – from most of our offices is our Black History Month Display, currently set up in our courthouse’s main lobby, which is easily accessible and open to the public.
Clerk’s Office Archives Division Supervisor Vishi Garig, Archives Specialist Amelia Dixon and Facilities Specialist Tim Bell did an excellent job creating and arranging the display for easy reading/viewing.
Detailed on the panels are stories written by our Archives personnel that detail the lives and legacies of several influential African Americans who call(ed) Clay County home throughout the decades/centuries. Check this display out in person and read some of Vishi’s excellent writing.
You can also learn much more online by visiting our Historical Archives Division’s website, where a section is dedicated to Black History in Clay County: at archives.clayclerk.com/county-history/notable-citizens-names-2/black-history-in-clay-county/.
