CalaVida Art Walk on 'Walnut Street'
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – CalaVida Music and Arts Festival kicked off its 10th anniversary Monday night with the Art Walk on Walnut Street, even if the "Walnut Street" was missing.
The city broke ground on the Walnut Street Redesign project on Feb. 29 and the project is still ongoing. Because the street is currently under renovation, the CalaVida celebration was taken in by local buildings along the street.
Students at Augusta Savage Arts and Community Center proudly displayed their paintings and sculptures at the Village Improvement Association, which were available for sale.
Live music and a live painting were paired with complimentary glasses of wine and charcuterie at Red's Wine Bar. Paul Ivey performed live music on the acoustic guitar. Olivia Gonzalez worked on the live painting.
Teens diligently worked on their Atomic Sketches at The Art Room, which were available for sale.
The festivities will continue throughout the week as they approach their culmination on Saturday, April 27. Authors will present their books at the Spring Park Pool Pavillion from noon to 5 p.m., followed by singing, dancing and other events at Spring Park until dusk.
