In July 1919, a postage stamp cost two cents. Jack Dempsey had just won the heavyweight boxing championship with a third-round TKO of Jess Willard. And Beth was born. It now costs 55 cents to mail a letter and Andy Ruiz Jr. currently holds three of boxing’s four heavyweight belts. And Beth still enjoys an occasional glass of wine at Signature Health Care in Orange Park. Residents at the nursing home threw a party for her last Monday, July 15. Longevity apparently runs in her family. Beth said her mother died one day short of her 100th birthday.
