What are the odds?

Posted

The number is one in 783 quadrillion, 864 trillion, 876 billion, 960 million. This is known in the mathematical and scientifical realms as a “probability compound.”

Those odds determine the probability of seven major Biblical events occurring on the exact same day. The interesting point is that each of these events comes with the Truth of A DAY OF NEW BEGINNINGS. God is revealing to us no matter how dark life may be, Hope is coming against all odds.

The first New Beginning is The Flood and Noah’s Ark. In Genesis 8:4, “And the Ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. This would be Nisan 17.

In Exodus 12:2, “This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.” God changed the Hebrews calendar. This seventh month Nisan would now be the First month. This gives the Hebrews a civil and a religious calendar.

The next two New Beginnings are interrelated. The entering of Egypt and the crossing of the Red Sea. Numbers 33:1-8 recounts the departure of the Jews from Egyptian city of Rameses on Nisan 15, including their stops until Nisan 17 when they “passed thru the midst of the sea.”

The entering into Egypt is described in Exodus 12:41 as 430 years prior on the selfsame day they departed. This would be again Nisan 17.

The fourth New Beginning is Joshua 5:13-6:5. The Hebrews have entered into the Promised Land. The Lord shares the ending of the Manna supply on Nisan 16. The next day Israel would enjoy the FIRST FRUITS OF THE PROMISED LAND on Nisan 17.

The fifth New Beginning, Hezekiah leads the Cleansing and Restoring of Temple worship. 2 Chronicles 29:1-36, the nation had gone thru many changes from the time of the judges into a split kingdom. King Ahaz had led the nation into dark days. The cleansing was completed on Nisan 16 (2 Chronicles 29:17). In verse 20, Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD Nisan 17.

The sixth New Beginning was during the days of Esther. A wicked man named Haman had convinced King Darius of Persia to allow him to put a decree of death upon the Jewish people due to his own arrogance and hatred.

That request happened on Nisan 13. Esther requested a three-day fast and prayer. On the final day, Esther requested to give a banquet the next day for the King and Haman. In the providence of God and a series of events, Haman was exposed and hanged on the gallows he had prepared, and the Jews were delivered. Once again, Nisan 17.

The greatest New Beginning in history took place on Nisan 17. IT IS THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST.

All of us need a new beginning. Odds are in our favor new beginnings are with the Lord!
