Orange Park got wins in all but three events to defeat St. Johns Country Day School in swim meet action on Thursday, Sept., at St. Johns.

The host Spartans got wins from Asher Hendrix in the 200 free; Gaige Jackson in the 100 free; and Jacob Santana in the 500 free.

For the Raiders, the sprinting prowess of the Leak siblings, Jordan and Zephan, led to a lot of team points. Jordan Leak won the 50 free and 100 backstroke, while Zephan Leak won the boys 50 free and the 100 breaststroke.

For the Raiders girls, Taylor Mandigo won the 200 free and 500 free.

Princeton Williams was a winner for the Raiders by taking the 100 butterfly and getting a second in the 100 breaststroke.

Orange Park won both ends of the meet. The girls won 114-54; the boys wom 215-90.

Area swimmers will now gear up for the prestigious Frank Hollerman Invitational in Ponte Vedra on Sept. 19.

Host Fleming Island swamps Clay swimmers

With a handful of new transfers on the Fleming Island High swimming roster, including state 200 free champion Noah Stotler from Clay, the Golden Eagles took a 258-57 win over Clay in dual meet on Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Eagle Harbor Pool Complex.

Stotler won the 500 free and 200 individual medley, while Fleming Island's state 500 free champion William Shoesmith won the 200 free and the 100 butterfly. The Golden Eagles boys won, 137-20.

For the women, state swimmers Klara Shoesmith, Kinsey Yarbrough and Oakleaf transfer Ellie Strombeck all won events in Fleming Island's 121-37 win.

Clay got second-place finishes from Kaya Davis in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, and thirds in the 50 free by Haley Hajost and the 100 free from Taylor Hildrum.
