• The Orange Park Town Council reshuffles money in its budget to pay to resurface Bellair Road from Kingsley Avenue to Gano Avenue.

• Clay County Superintendent Charlie Van Zant suspends plans to redraw attendance boundaries to address overcrowding. 

• Hosts of “Ghost Hunters and Paranormal” say they encountered “spirits” after spending four hours at the Old Clay County Jail. 

• The Green Cove Springs City Council passes a resolution to get money from the Property Assessed Clean Energy program to provide loans for energy-efficient home improvements. 

 

20 years ago, 2006 

• State engineers say the Clay County Emergency Operations Center’s roof likely would not withstand hurricane-force winds greater than 74 mph. 

• Douglas Elkins, an 18-year veteran of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, was arrested on an aggravated domestic assault charge. 

• Joey Williams, an Exceptional Student Education aide at Lakeside Junior High, is selected as Clay County District Schools' Employee of the Year.
