ORANGE PARK – Clay County Judge Kristina Mobley administered the oath of office to Ron Raymond, left and Alan Watt on Tuesday to begin the Orange Park Town Council meeting. Raymond, who served on town council in the 1980s, defeated challenger Larry Nichols in the May 9 runoff. Raymond secured 58.36 percent of the vote with 527 votes to Nichols’ 376 votes at 41.64 percent, according to the Clay County Supervisor of Elections. Watt won his seat in the April 11 Super Tuesday Primary by defeating incumbent Mayor Eugene Nix by 7 votes. Council members also voted council member Scott Land to serve as mayor for a year and Gary Meeks to serve as vice mayor.
