Issuing Agency: Department of Military Affairs
Project Number and Name: 216041 CBJTC Museum Storage Facility, Bldg 3016 Project Location: Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, Starke FL
Statement of Work: Repair and renovation of Building 3016, located to the northeast of the intersection of Avenue B and St. Augustine Street at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, for the purpose of storage of sensitive artifacts for the Camp Blanding Museum.
The existing building (Building 3016) was built in 1940 and is an unconditioned, wood frame structure. After a detailed review of the current structure, it was determined that the existing building is not suited for storage of the sensitive artifacts (clothing, vehicles, documents, weapons, and photographs) required to be stored therein. Therefore, the best use of currently obligated funds would be to remove the existing building structure down to the foundation to allow for the construction of a new climate-controlled building that would utilize the existing foundation and slab as part of the renovation to meet current Building Code and Energy Code requirements for the protection of the material and items to be stored therein.
The existing concrete building slab, pads, and foundations in this location will be retained to the extents possible, modified and renovated as necessary to accommodate the project program. The new/renovated concrete pad and foundations will provide for the construction of a new insulated, climate-controlled structure to be erected. The new structure will be approximately 3,000 square feet. The facility will provide dedicated arms handling and storage, CBJTC artifact storage, Command artifact storage, uniform & textile type storage, and Macro artifact storage. The remaining area will be hallway, latrine area, and mechanical/electrical rooms. Partitions around storage areas shall be chain link fencing and gates. Interior partitions at all other areas to be GWB over metal studs. Exterior finishes to consist of PEMB prefinished metal wall and roof panels. Exterior doors to be swing type, painted hollow metal doors and frames. Concrete aprons to be installed at each door opening.
