JACKSONVILLE - Two area girls basketball stars from Fleming Island High School; Tia Robinson and Molly Ragle, got a chance to see each other again on the hardwoods, but with different uniforms.

Robinson, a redshirt freshman guard for University of North Florida, and Ragle, a sophomore guard at Edward Waters College, contributed points, rebounds and assists in the Lady Ospreys’ overwhelming 93-35 win on Sun., Dec. 13.

UNF improved to 2-3 while Edward Waters fell to 0-3.

In the game, UNF sprinted to an early 18-0 lead from the start to cruise to the win with Edward Waters getting one double figure quarter, a 19 point effort, in the second quarter.

Robinson, who played two years at Fleming Island, but graduated from Nease High School, had one point off two free throws with three shots missed in 26 minutes of play. Robinson had one assist and three rebounds.

At Fleming Island, Robinson, a junior with Ragle a senior in a region semifinal finish in 2018, was part of a Final Four finish while making the state title game with Nease. Nease was state runnerup in 2019. Ragle was injured in her junior year.

Ragle, a junior, who transferred in from junior college play at St. Petersburg College, had six points in 29 minutes of play with eight rebounds. Ragle hit two three-pointers in six attempts. Ragle averaged 4.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists at St. Pete.

Last year, Edward Waters finished with a 19-11 record; fourth in the GCAC under coach Charmaine Wilson in her 10th year in 2020.
