KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – Johnny’s Bar-B-Q Restaurant opened its new all you can eat buffet called Popi’s Buffet.

“We’re excited to have it.” Said Johnny’s owner Johnny Mason. The idea to start a buffet came to Mason after talking with his friend Jorge Dominguez also known as Chef Popi. “We’ve done primarily just Bar-B-Q for the last 35 years. I thought it was a real cool opportunity to be able to work with somebody who is a real chef and has done a lot of different recipes. I’ve had some of his food and it’s just outstanding.”

After months of preparations, Mason and Chef Popi finally opened the buffet last Friday Friends, family and members from local groups such as Amvets Post 86 and the Keystone Lake Region Business Association gathered at popular restaurant to show their support for the new menu addition.
“We appreciate people coming in and supporting us,” Mason said.

Throughout the evening, guests were given the opportunity to try a variety of dishes prepared by Chef Popi. Dishes such as Caribbean cole slaw, fried white fish, fried butterfly shrimp and Thai chicken were some of the many dishes available for the guests to enjoy.
One hungry guest said: “I wouldn’t change a thing, it’s wonderful. I thought the food was really good and the selection was wonderful.”

Established in 1988, Johnny’s Bar-B-Q Restaurant has been a major patron in the Keystone community. The restaurant has been actively involved with the schools in the area and their programs. In addition, they are a charter member of the Lake Regions Kiwanis Club and a member of Amvets Post 86. They are involved with local ministries such as churches and the local food bank.
“We love this area, the Lake Region area, and are very blessed to be here,” Mason said.
As of now, Johnny’s is planning to host the buffet every Friday and Saturday evening from 4:30-8:30 p.m.
