FLEMING ISLAND — A lot of the times, you can find Kellie, Mary and Lauren Schaudel coming up with ways to bring comfort to others.
Their big recipe book hosts dozens of avenues to not only smell good but bring relief. And they have just the products to cultivate simpleness and peace.
Simple Serenity is a small business the mother-daughter trio officially began last year.
"It started as a little passion and then it became a dream for her. And me and my sister have just helped her along the way with strengths that we have that maybe she didn't," Lauren said.
With a focus on wellness products, home and personal, the brand is all about smells that bring a natural sense of relief and calmness. And it's pure and clean.
Simple Serenity prides itself in using essential oils, or plant concentrated extracts. Each have a wide range of health benefits and antioxidant properties, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
With handmade diffuser and perfume oils, sugar scrubs, body scrubs, body roller oils and even car air fresheners, each contain 100% all-natural fragrances with a scent that resonates. With more than 15 different aromas to try, you could pick the sandalwood and jasmine infused Desire, the grapefruit and vanilla of Euphoric Serenity or even their popular Superwoman blend for balance and a boost.
Lauren said they also offer therapeutic options for those needing inflammatory pain relief, such as with sciatica and carpal tunnel.
"You would apply anywhere you have inflammation. Liquid Pain Relief is the same thing, but just not on broken skin because oils can be harsh on cuts," she said.
And if someone has specific requests, Lauren said they are able to research and make something to fit that customer's needs. Recently, they began crafting what they call "inhalers."
The non-medicated, essential oil blends help to aid in congestion and sickness.
"You can open it and smell it, but you just use it by breathing it. It'll really clear any congestion. And then we have Liquid Serenity. That's like take a few deep breaths and it helps to bring calmness to you. That's my personal favorite."
For Kellie, the business started as a hobby but soon became a passion. As a high school and college athlete, Lauren said she dealt a lot with sleep deprivation, restlessness and body pain. Her mother would experiment with oils in order to bring her some type of relief.
Lauren said they made it their mission to provide that help to others who may be going through the same thing.
"Some people don't care too much about the natural aspect, but [for] some, that is their life. So, it's just helpful to have that option for those people and just give them a wide variety, especially with things you wouldn't normally see," she said.
A lot of research and preparation goes into the product-making process. Lauren said they spend countless days and hours figuring out which oils work, which can be combined and the wellness effects of each. They are then inputted as recipes in a large book filled with various formulas.
"[Kellie] is behind the idea of each different product. And she's great at it," Lauren said.
Everything is tried and endorsed by the ones who make it. That's exactly what Lauren said makes their business unique.
"We have tried, personally, like everything that we sell. We really focus on everything being natural and just being personalized. We don't want to have people buying stuff from us that we don't even know about," she said. "So, we definitely take the time to use our product."
Once before, you could find Simple Serenity stocked on the shelves at One Swanky Boutique in Green Cove Springs. But now, Lauren said they've branched out to local markets. Customers are also able to shop products at simpleserenityest2025.com . Next, they'll be showcasing at the World Golf Village for its Valentines Gift Market on Feb. 7.
They will also be hosting a Homemade Market Swap on Feb. 1 from 2-4 p.m. Members of the community can bring 6-8 homemade goods that you would like to swap with others. Those interested in attending should reach out to simpleserenitybusiness@gmail.com or call (904) 589-4576.
For the trio, it's all about continuing to display the importance of health and wellness and providing simple ways to obtain serenity.
"We've been looking into seeing what will be beneficial for us or what our products truly fit into," Lauren said.
