ORANGE PARK — With help from the Historical Society of Orange Park, the Orange Park Woman's Club received a new community library on Feb. 5. After finding the box badly rotten, Historical Society member Bob Scallan convinced the group to help restore the Little Free Library, located at 130 Kingsley Ave. In a partnership with Lowe's, the building materials were donated, while a $50 gift care was provided by Home Depot. Local craftsman Ken Eberlein, 85, worked meticulously to build the new library from the ground up. The new structure holds a selection of books for all ages and promotes the organization's literacy initiative. Community members are able to take books from the library, as well as share them. In total, Orange Park Woman's Club President Constance Higginbotham said more than 12,000 books were taken last year.
