ORANGE PARK – Police officers were dispatched to a residence along the St. John’s River where a young boy was experiencing a mental health episode and was trying to harm himself. The boy had jumped into the river and began walking out from the shoreline. Officer Douglas Faircloth, without hesitation, climbed down into the river, waded out to where the boy was, and was able to successfully retrieve him before any harm could come to him. The boy was warmed up and taken to the hospital.
