ORANGE PARK – HCA Healthcare’s Orange Park Medical Center received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for fall 2021. This national distinction recognizes their achievements in protecting patients from harm and error while in the hospital.
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns a grade A-through-F to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a tremendous achievement, of which this community should be extremely proud,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “The leadership and hospital staff of both Orange Park Medical Center and Memorial Hospital should be proud of their unwavering commitment to prioritizing patients and their safety, especially during these trying times.”
“Here at Memorial Hospital, we are very proud of being recognized with another Leapfrog “A” Safety Grade rating this year,” said Albert E. Holt, IV, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer at Memorial Hospital Jacksonville. “Our patients always come first and we are proud of our colleagues working hard to provide the best care for our patients each and every day,” Dr. Holt said.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital rating program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
“At Orange Park Medical Center, we recognize the importance of measuring and publicly sharing our quality performance,” says Dr. Bradley Shumaker, Chief Medical Officer at Orange Park Medical Center. “I’m extremely proud of our team of dedicated physicians and staff that earned this grade.”
