Orange Park Eagan advances in Jax Idol competition

ORANGE PARK – The Jax Idol competition started with 68 contestants; one by one, the field has been whittled to just four.

Including Orange Park’s Chad Eagan.

The stylist at Bleach Please Salon on Wells Road survived another elimination round two weeks ago when the judges said his Latin-themed performance was among the four best.

The field will be narrowed again on Sunday afternoon at 4 at Lillian’s Sports Grill in Jacksonville. The theme will be music from the 2020s. At stake is a spot in the competition finale.

“I’m having the time of my life,” Eagan said. “You have to show versatility. I love performing.”

Eagan will sing a duet with one of the judges, Jessica Stewart, then he will perform a solo. He hopes to move one step closer to winning a cash prize, studio time, a professional photo shoot and six paid bookings at premier events. Past winners now get prominent bookings on cruise ships and as opening acts for major shows.

Eagan and Stewart will sing “The Prayer.”

Jax Idol isn’t associated with the American Idol competition. And if it was, he wouldn’t be allowed to perform since tet show’s age limit is 29. Eagan is 35.

However, he said the most significant validation is to be heard.

So far, so good.
