It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marsha Ivey Dukes on May 3, 2025. Marsha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose life was a testament to the power of love and family.
Marsha possessed the spiritual gift of service, a calling she embraced wholeheartedly. She was hired by the University of North Florida at the age of 19 where she served and supported the university for 38+ years. Upon retirement, she then cared for each of her grandsons, her “boys”. She found fulfillment in meeting the practical needs of others, often behind the scenes, with a servant’s heart. Her acts of kindness and support were a reflection of her deep faith and love for her family.
Making moments memorable was a specialty of Marsha’s. Birthdays were always cause for celebration, and the excitement that would exude from her was contagious. She created a world where her family felt loved, supported, and cherished. Her legacy lives on in the lessons she imparted, the laughter they shared, and the deep bond they will forever cherish.
Marsha was born in Jacksonville, FL on August 25, 1951 to Willie Luke Ivey and Mary Vignold. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and little brother (Edward William Ivey).
Marsha is survived by her loving husband, Clayton Dukes, Jr.; son, Adam Fox (Erin); daughter, Misty Sawdo (Chris); her grandsons, Hunter Sawdo, Luke Fox, and Bo Fox; and her sister, Melanie Long.
A celebration of Marsha’s life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am followed by the funeral service at 11:00am with Pastor Ralph Estevez officiating. The interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
