CLAY COUNTY —The seasons are changing, and so is your closet.
This year, you might want to refresh your wardrobe for fall, without breaking the bank. In Clay County, there are many options to help you refine your taste this season, especially with staple pieces.
Among the many boutiques and shops in Clay County is the Chocolate Shoe Boutique, located at 2494 Blanding Blvd. in Middleburg and owned by Carol Gardner.
The Chocolate Shoe Boutique has many items ranging from jewelry, shoes, fun apparel and even college-themed accessories to show your spirit.
“Definitely fun sweaters and nice jeans,” store employee Alexia Powers said when asked about what their focus is for this upcoming fall. At the Chocolate Shoe Boutique, they have a wide selection of sweaters and an entire wall dedicated to jeans.
“Definitely backless. We’ve also pulled in flowy barrel pants. I’m also a big dress girl, and into matching sets,” Powers said when asked about the overall style that retail is seeing as fall approaches.
The Chocolate Shoe Boutique has a diverse selection of all of these items, along with unique accessories.
Also among the many shops in Clay County is the Key to Glam Salon and Boutique located at 1632 Park Ave. in Orange Park. Different from other similar shops, the Key to Glam Salon and Boutique is a hair salon and thrift store combined. In one room you can have your hair styled for the upcoming season, and in the other you can shop for timeless goods and furniture.
And unlike most stores, their goods come mostly from vendors instead of established brands, making their business hyperlocal.
“I’ve seen a lot of people get chunky brown and blonde highlights. I’ve also seen people get dark hair and add red on the ends,” a store employee said when asked about popular hair styles for this upcoming fall.
Popular colors this season, they said, also include black, sage green and purple.
At the Key to Glam Salon and Boutique, they have a wide selection of colors, including ones you may want to have in your closet for fall.
“Romper, dresses, and skirts have been very popular. And upcycling can be a great way to upgrade your closet without buying tons of stuff,” the store employee said.
By checking out local shops and boutiques like the Chocolate Shoe Boutique and the Key to Glam Salon and Boutique, you can upgrade your fall closet with new colors and new pieces without breaking the bank.
