In this edition, we talk misunderstood state facts. Did you know Georgia is called the Peach State, but the No. 1 crop for our neighbors to the north are peanuts? In fact, half of all peanuts in the United States come from Georgia. The Peach State also produces more blueberries than peaches. Nebraska prides itself on corn production, even calling students at its most-attended university Nebraska Cornhuskers. Iowa leads in growing the most corn, followed by Illinois. Nebraska is a distant third. California, not Florida, produces the most oranges; Arkansas, not Louisiana or Mississippi, grows the most rice; Louisiana, not Florida, has the most alligators; and Texas, not Alabama, Mississippi or Georgia, leads in cotton production.
