FLEMING ISLAND – Kip Deckerhoff has been named nurse executive for Baptist Medical Center Clay, Baptist Health’s new hospital currently under construction on Fleming Island. The hospital will open in the fall of 2022.
Deckerhoff has been with Baptist Health for 30 years and has more than 22 years of nursing leadership experience. He started his career as nurse manager for Wolfson Children’s Hospital’s oncology unit and most recently served as executive director of Accreditation and Magnet for Baptist Health.
“I am honored to be selected to serve the Clay County community,” Deckerhoff said. “As a former pediatric oncology nurse, I’ve witnessed the power that compassion, relationships and community can have on the healing process. I look forward to guiding the Baptist Clay healthcare team to provide compassionate care consistent with Baptist Health’s mission. My wife and I recently purchased a home in Clay County and we’re excited about the opportunity to serve our neighbors.”
Deckerhoff earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Florida, and a Master of Science in Nursing Health Care Systems Management from Loyola University.
Baptist Clay will be a full-service 100-bed hospital providing the full gamut of medical services, from primary care to heart care and everything in between. The hospital, located on the current Baptist Clay medical campus, will include a 20-room Labor & Delivery Center with a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
“It’s exciting to see our new executive team come together as our hospital moves toward completion,” said Hospital President Darin Roark. “Kip is a compassionate and caring nurse leader who will help deliver the high level of quality care Baptist Health is known for.”
Baptist Medical Center Clay will employ close to 400 additional team members. Open positions will be posted on the Baptist Health website (baptistjax.com/careers) in the early spring of 2022.
