David Kenneth “Kenny” Hollingsworth, 83, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away on November 6, 2025, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born on February 8, 1942, in Flushing, Ohio, Kenny graduated from Flushing High School and proudly served his country as an enlisted member of the U.S. Army and later as a reservist.
He built a long and dedicated career with CSX Railroad, which took him from Holloway and Lima, Ohio, to Jacksonville, Florida. After more than 35 years of service, he retired and enjoyed many years as a resident of Orange Park before relocating to Green Cove Springs.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sandra “Sandy” Hollingsworth; daughters Doreen (Stefan) Hollingsworth, Jennifer (Ivin) Gunder, and Bethany (Michael) Walter; grandchildren Ivin II and Isaiah Gunder, and Brantly, Madelyn, and Grayson Walter; sister Debbie (Tom) Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Pearl Jordan and David A. Hollingsworth, and his brother John Francis Hollingsworth.
Kenny loved his family deeply. He and Sandy were inseparable, building a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion. Through his example, he taught his children the values of honesty, hard work, and commitment to family and community. He encouraged their interests—from sports and music to the arts. Kenny especially loved attending his grandchildren’s events and celebrating their accomplishments.
A lifelong sports fan, he enjoyed cheering for the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and Ohio State Buckeyes, often listening to Tigers games on the radio outdoors. He also loved country music, from classic to contemporary artists.
A member of Switzerland Community Church, Kenny’s faith guided and strengthened him throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Broadus-Raines Chapel in Green Cove Springs.
