ORANGE PARK – Another Clay Impact Train event, another record turnout. The community-based organization that supports four areas of Clay County that are in need made its quarterly stop last Saturday at Grove Park Elementary. Despite a heat index of nearly 110 degrees, a record 267 residents were served a hot meal by the Salvation Army of Clay County. They could receive free clothes, a haircut, groceries, books, counseling on mental health and substance abuse, information on free healthcare, medical checkups, showers, train rides and other services. Next month’s train stop will be at Green Cove Springs Junior High on Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. The event is free and available to everyone.
