ORANGE PARK - Florida State University baseball, currently ranked No. 5 in the NCAA rankings, scored a 10-6 win over University of Miami on Saturday, March 22 to move to 20-3 overall, 5-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. FSU went 2-1 in the three game series with a 14-1 win in the opener, but a 9-6 loss in game two.
On the roster for the Seminoles is former Clay High basher Max Williams, a junior, who put up two hits; one an eighth inning homer, with three runs batted in and a run scored along the way to fuel a 13 hit day for the Seminoles. Williams' homer was his 10th for the season.
The Seminoles were set to play the University of Florida on Tuesday, March 25 at the Jacksonville Baseball Grounds. The Gators beat FSU 7-2 March 11 in Tallahassee.
Williams is hitting at a .316 batting average with 23 games starts for FSU with 21 runs scored, 10 HRs and 26RBIs.
Last year, Williams hit .311 with four triples, 11 doubles and 46 RBIs. His college freshman season was at University of Alabama where he hit .320 with seven RBIs in three starts in 18 games played.
