ORANGE PARK – A children, regardless of age, love finding a present under the Christmas tree. Home Instead Orange Park made sure the residents at Life Care Center of Orange Park got their wishes granted, too, with the 20th annual Be a Santa to a Senior. With help of Whitey’s Fish Camp on Fleming Island and the help of hundreds of local residents, more than 160 Angel Tree requests were filled and delivered to the assisted living home at 2145 Kingsley Ave. “Actually, we got more donations than we had requests,” Home Instead owner and administrator Betsy Miller said. “We’ll take a lot of the extra gifts to other facilities.” Miller said the tree was set up at Whitey’s and residents did the rest. Home Instead was responsible for collecting and delivering the gifts. The most-requested items were clothing, blankets, pajamas and costume jewelry. “By giving a size and color, it’s much more personal,” Miller said.
“They know it was picked especially for them.” Residents at Life Care Center each received big bags containing everything they wanted during Tuesday’s ceremony.
