Following the Jan. 16 closure of the long-standing Winn-Dixie grocery store at 1545 County Rd 220, a new Aldi supermarket is set to take its place on the island around the next two months.
Clay Today reported that the German-based grocery company told Clay County officials it planned to spend as much as $1.75 million to alter, remodel and build out the location. Those renovations started in January.
According to a representative with T.D. Farrell Construction Inc., the renovations have a projected completion date of June 6. However, there is no specific date for when the store will open its doors for business.
The store's size will decrease from 76,260 square feet to 51,733 square feet, with the remaining space going back to Town Center at Eagle Harbor, where it will be leased to another business.
