Fleming Island junior cross country runner J.P. Strombeck had a strong second half of the Class 3A championship race on the tough Apalachee Region Course and was the Golden Eagles' top finisher with a 16:17.3 time and 20th place. Fleming Island finished seventh in team points with defending Class 3A champion Belen Jesuit winning.

St. Johns Country Day School's Ella Rose Hanna, just a freshman, is all alone in the finish stretch at the Class 1A championship cross country race in Tallahassee. Hanna and the Lady Spartans, all underclassmen, finished 13th in team points with Providence winning a sixth man-scored team title over Oak Hall after a 132-132 tie.
Fleming Island High senior Brooke Reynolds finished as the second fastest Clay County runner in Class 3A with a 20:05.3 split with Ridgeview High senior Emily Turner just 15 seconds behind her in the Class 3A championship race. Reynolds pulled double duty by also qualifying in swimming with Fleming Island relay teams just a week ago.
Fleming Island senior Jacob Sanders had a courageous return to cross country after shoulder surgery just four weeks prior with a strong region race that aided a region title for the Golden Eagles then a solid finish at the Class 3A championship race last Saturday to be part of a seventh-place finish for Fleming Island.
St. Johns Country Day School's boys cross country lone senior, Wyatt Hollingsworth, 1452, strides with teammate Isaiah Larsen in the first mile hill climb of the Class 1A championship race. The St. Johns boys finished 23rd in team points led by Arlo Kistner, Thomas Nichols and Judson Myers.
